Leather Cuts

Full Hide

45 - 55 SQFT
Is the whole hide, without cuts.

Half Hide

15 - 30 SQFT
Half hides are cut down the backbone in the middle of the hide, from neck to tail.

Double Shoulder

8 - 12 SQFT
The shoulder is a softer area of the hide. Is used in our Veg Tan lines.

Flexibility

It is the pliability or softness of the leather. We understand it is tough to gauge this characteristic online, however, we added graphics and categories on the product pages to make it easier to imagine.

Thickness

Thickness specification is normally measured in ounces, with one ounce or Oz. equal to 0.4 mm. We use this metric to help you choose the ideal leather for your specific needs.

Chrome Tanned

This type of tanning is based on the Trivalent Chromium, which creates very stable bonds with the collagen of the leather, blocking the natural processes of decomposition. All our tanning processes were developed to use 50% less water waste and as of 2021 our entire facilities run solely on solar energy. These are just a few of the efforts we do to help reduce our carbon footprint.

Vegetable Tanned

Vegetable tanning is a traditional craft process and safe for the environment. It is leather which has been turned using tannins that are extracted from tree bark, leaves or berries.

Finish

After tannage, all classes of leather, must be finished. It determines the appearance of the surface of the leather. This includes coloring, waterproofing, wax dressings, but also mechanical processing stages such as ironing or embossing of the leather.

Aniline Finish

An aniline finish allows the leather to maintain the natural markings of the hide. This finish is processed using soluble translucent dyes. These water based dyes penetrate all the way through the leather.

Semi-aniline finish

This leather treatment gives it a light surface protective coating which also contains a slightly amount of pigment. This coating protects the leather from scratching.

Pull Up

Pull up is a finishing technique created with oil and wax-rich leather that, changes color slightly due to its oils and waxes being mobilized when it is pulled up, flexed or scratched.

Natural Wax

Is a finish that use leather wax to make it either waterproof or render a shine. It has great protective and aesthetic effects on leather.

Natural Grain

Natural grain means that the leather doesnt has stamped causing it a pattern tha does not have a uniform grain structure.

Plate Embossed

When the leather has been stamped using heat and high pressure to create a pattern or design in the hide.
